Authentic Italian Cuisine in the Heart of Brisbane

From Sunrise to Fireworks - Your Riverfire Brisbane Itinerary
Brisbane Festival is back this September and the city’s buzzing and vibrant energy can be felt wherever you go. You might be feeling a bit overwhelmed with how to spend your time, where the best vantage points for the fireworks over the river are and where to get the best feed from the plethora of options in this beautiful city. That’s why we’ve created the perfect itinerary, from sunrise to fireworks for your Riverfire Brisbane 2025 day out.
6:30am - Watch the sunrise at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs
Start the morning bright and early with a short stroll and spectacular views of the city and river at Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Brisbane mornings in September can be crisp so make sure to rug up or, gather some of your closest loved ones and huddle up together to enjoy the peaceful serenity of the city from afar before the crowds arrive.
8:30am - Pastries at Christian Jacques Bakery
A short stroll from the Kangaroo Point Cliffs you will find Angelo’s favourite bakery, that will make you feel like you’re in Paris! Start your morning the French way at Christian Jacques Pastries. This artisan patisserie brings a taste of France to Brisbane with buttery croissants, delicate pastries, and freshly brewed coffee. Whether you’re craving a classic pain au chocolat, a flaky almond croissant, or something a little more decadent, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast in Brisbane.
11am - Take a stroll over Kangaroo Point Bridge
The Kangaroo Point Bridge connects the CBD with Kangaroo Point, offering sweeping river views and easy access to the festival buzz. During Brisbane Festival, the bridge itself becomes part of the celebration, featuring large-scale art installations that light up the walkway and bring creativity to life above the river. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, take in the city’s artistry, and enjoy a fresh perspective of Brisbane before the afternoon crowds arrive.
1pm - Picnic in the park
After a scenic stroll, head over to Olive & Angelo and pick up a woodfired traditional pizza, best accompanied by a picnic blanket in the botanical gardens to watch the afternoon airshow!
4pm - Kick off the evening with a drink at Dr Gimlette
Start your evening with a speciality cocktail along Brisbane’s historic Edward Street at Dr Gimlette, just a short stroll from your dinner reservation at Olive & Angelo. It’s our staff’s favourite pick for a city bar — the kind of place that whisks you away with its charm, refined atmosphere, and perfectly crafted drinks. The ideal way to ease into the Riverfire celebrations before the night truly begins.
5:30pm - Dinner at Olive & Angelo
If you’re looking for the perfect vantage point for the Riverfire fireworks display, then Olive & Angelo is the restaurant for you. Nestled in a hidden spot along Brisbane river, with clear views across to South Bank, our authentic Italian restaurant is known for its handmade pizzas and pastas, exceptional service and optimal location. After indulging in hearty and delicious Italian family recipes, you’re just a few footsteps away from the ideal vantage point for Riverfire. Be sure to book a table in advance – Riverfire is a busy night for us here at Olive & Angelo!
7pm - Fireworks!
Riverfire’s fireworks are nothing short of spectacular and it truly feels magical being amongst all the buzz as the crowds marvel over the dazzling display of lights, colour and sound. The perfect end to a jam packed day in the beautiful city of Brisbane.
